This project was an extensive renovation to an existing summer cottage which was originally a late 19th century horse stable.  The summer cottage had been in the family for several generations and the client wanted to maintain a cottage charm but increase the living area and provide many needed updates for a year round home that would also be accommodating for leisurely visits with the newer generations of his growing family. A major focus of the design was to take full advantage of incredible views of Buzzards Bay and the Cape Cod Train Bridge. The original layout only offered very limited views. The very small and cramped staircase which was located at the back of the house was moved toward a the opposite side of the house where it could capture views of Buzzards Bay at each landing and end at an observation landing for boat watching and star gazing.  The Master bedroom was also designed to have a balcony to capture the stunning views of the Bay from the 2nd floor.
