Coos Bay, ORCompleted 1994
Peter Turowski, AIA while with Crow Clay Associates
New 1,200 foot long boardwalk with three pavilions
housing interpretive displays. Conceptual design was
by Joseph Esherick. The project is situated on the
historic waterfront of this lumber port city,
bounded by the bay on one side and coastal Highway
101 on the other. The post and beam structures of
the pavilions are supported on a wood piling system
over the bay. The buildings house various displays
related to the history of the region as well as
current attractions. It serves as a stopping point
and education center for travelers passing along
this scenic highway.
