First
Congregational Church in Amherst
Amherst, MassachusettsCompleted 2002

Architects
A three phased project to an historic church across
from the Emily Dickinson Estate in Amherst town
center. The project included application for a
Massachusetts Preservation Project Fund (MPPF)
grant, and three subsequent phases including: 1)
steeple re-roofing and repair (including wood louver
replication and finial repair), 2) slate roofing and
copper flashing repair and replacement on main
sanctuary, and 3) a new front porch and accessible
ramp. The latter project replaced a late ramp
addition with a new earthen ramp, and earlier
modification to the porch roof with a new roof
configuration designed from study of historic
photographs.
